Any ideas?
Hello I am having extremely bad lag when trying to play GW. I will try to provide as much detail as I can please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Computer running windows xp sp2 p4 with 1gb of ram started having issues a few weeks ago. When playing the ping would go up to the 1200ms 5000ms 15000ms and then go back to 100ms and so on. It was about time to get a new computer anyways so I didn't bother trying to trouble shoot too much
We bought 2 new computers below are the specs
Computer 1
HP A6000N
3 GB of Ram
8600 GT Video Card with 256MB of Ram
250 GB Hard Drive
Windows Vista Home Premium
Computer 2
HP A6000N
2 GB of Ram
6150 SE Video Card with Shared Ram
250 GB Hard Drive
Windows Vista Home Premium
We are connected via cable modem and have tried switch out all the cat5 with no luck. We do not experience any lag when playing other games such as first person shooters.
In GW our frame rate is always above 30 usually closer to 70 FPS.
When playing we hit spikes that drive our ping up into the 10000ms or higher sometimes the game recovers and is playable for a few minutes.
The things I know are that the same problem was occurring before with the old PC so I don't believe it to be a computer issue or OS incompatibility. Our ping and network speed are fine on everything else but GW. Our friends playing at the same time never seem to have these large spikes.
I have ran the gw.exe with the -update command to get all the files at once. We have plenty of downstream and upstream available and it still happens when only one person is playing.
This has become extremely frustrating. If you have any advise please let me know I would be willing to try just about anything.
Please let me know if you can think of anything else to try. I think that it may be a break down in the route our connection takes to get to the GW servers. Tech Support doesn't seem to think that there is lag or any problems but it only happens with their game.
